Adam John Brakas, Jr., age 91 of Chesterland passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Wednesday morning July 18, 2012. Adam was born on June 28, 1921 in Lithuania, the son of the late Adam John Brakas Sr. and Elena (Jumasev) Brakas. Adam grew up in Lithuania as a child and after school he married Genny (Eugenia) Kobylinsky on Sept. 27, 1940. After WWII they came to the United States in 1960. He worked at the Ford Motor Company Stamping Plant in Buffalo, NY for 22 years, retiring in 1983. He spent numerous days at various hospitals and rehab facilities, but he wasn't there for himself. He was there as a caregiver and companion to Genny whom he had been married to for 71 years. Often he bid farewell to the nurses with a genuine, "Thank you for caring for my wife" and a big box of chocolates! He cared for Genny at home as well, until his own health required some assistance by family and home caregivers. He is preceded in death by his parents, and many brothers and sisters. Adam is survived by his loving wife, Genny Brakas, his son, Adam B. Brakas, 2 granddaughters, Yvonne Botsis and Suzanne Brakas all of Chesterland, OH, 4 sisters, Lenute Brakas, Asta & Tony Ziobakes of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, Maria Brakas and Irene Brakas both of Toronto, Ontario Canada, 2 brothers, Vito (Vytautas) Brakas of Wickliffe, OH, and Bill (Bijunas) and his wife Cecilia Brakas of Oakville, Canada.
