Anthony Richard Rodgers, 52 of Newton Falls beloved father, devoted husband, and loving grandfather, passed away peacefully at his residence with his wife by his side on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014 after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Anthony was born on June 29, 1962 in Akron, OH the son of Richard Raymond and Patti Ann (Buchanan) Rodgers. Anthony married the love of his life , Maureen J. Donahue on July 6, 1990, and they enjoyed 24 years of marriage together. He has lived in Newton Falls for the past 20 years, formerly of Tallmadge, OH. Anthony served his country faithfully in the US Coast Guard for 4 years. He worked as a machinist at Swaglock. Some of his passions in life were: hunting, fishing, boating, the outdoors, traveling, building things, woodcarving, and most importantly his family, and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother Patti, his grandfather Raymond Rodgers whom he was very close with, and his other grandparents He is survived by: his wife: Maureen J. Rodgers of Newton Falls, 2 daughters: Erin & Isaac Sherman of Chicago, IL, Brooke Rodgers of Newton Falls, 1 son: Brett & Katie Duffy of Elyria, OH, 2 sisters: Cindy & Michael Duta of Wadsworth, OH, Vicki Rodgers of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, 1 brother: Burl & Debbie Rodgers of Akron, 3 grandchildren: Anna, Clara, Julia Duffy. Calling hours will be held at James Funeral Home on Friday, October 3, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00pm. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00am with Rev. Calvin Mason officiating.
