IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arvie
Staton
December 10, 1937 – December 3, 2024
It's with our deepest sorrow that we inform everyone, that our father, and our mother's husband, Arvie Staton, has entered into God's hands on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. He had a long battle with cancer. In which he fought long and hard. Our mother and children were right by his side the whole way. Dad met our mother (Shirley Holesko) at the car wash in Newton Falls. They married on April 8, 1967, to which they danced to "April Love." He was an avid bowler and golfer all his adulthood. His best friend and brother, David Bryner was his side kick. David admits that our dad was the better bowler. In years past he worked at "Staton's Tire Center" in Newton Falls. Many knew him as an exceptional mechanic. He and our mother always had multiple projects going on at once. He completely remodeled their old farm house with the help of Grandpa Frank. He and mom loved garage saling on Fridays, and refinishing antiques was a big part of his life. Many of us have one of a kind antiques lamps that he refurbished. Anytime one of us kids needed help, he was there. Quickly. Rescuing us from our broken down cars on the side of the road, or helping us build a deck, wave flags at the race track, or helping plant & harvest Grandpa Frank's fields. He helped us with our plumbing, carpentry, electrical and mechanics. It didn't seem there was anything Dad couldn't do. Our MacGyver. Our "Jack of all trades." He easily could have been an engineer. He was born December 10, 1937 in his families humble home in Salt Lick, Kentucky. He was born to Herman & Iva (McClain) Staton. Memories of Arvie will be carried on by his loving family; his wife Shirley Holesko-Staton; his 4 sons Michael & (Cassie) Staton, Marc & (Alicia) Staton, Edward & (Kelly), Paul & (Bethany) Staton; his daughter Jennifer Staton, and his adopted son Bill Hetzel; his mother-in-law Marian Holesko (Soonie), who loved him like her own son; his brother Herman Staton Jr., his sister Jean Estlack, as well as his adopted brother and sister David & Jeanne Bryner, 15 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Arvie is preceded in death by his parents Herman & Iva Staton, brothers Velma, Marvin, William, & David Staton, sisters Francis Caudill, Elvera Ayersman, & Sue Myers, as well as his grandson Trevor Staton. Papaw was renamed by his great-grandchildren, "Papa with the fish." Dad made a koi pond many years ago and mom and dad enjoyed feeding their fish daily. The koi were one of dad's prized possessions. His great-grandchildren were ecstatic to go down to the pond with "Papa with the fish" to feed them.
