Obituary

Barbara Annette Bradford (76), Born Aug 2, 1938 in Youngstown, Ohio. Died March 2, 2015, at University Hospital in Cleveland, due to complications from a stroke. Her parents were Harold E. and Edna (Wiles) Bradford. She graduated in 1956 from Struthers High School, where she has been an active member of the Reunion Committee for over 59 years. She attended Youngstown State University where she was active in Drama Club with majors in Art and Sociology. She has worked in the healthcare field for many years, starting in the 1960's at Children's Hospital in San Diego, California. After other medical facilities she retired at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in 2008 as a medical transcriber. Barb began a passion of hers in the 1970's as a freelance photographer and writer. She published an area newsletter for photography and also owned The Vista Gallery, which displayed contemporary photography, located in East Palestine. While living there she was active in community activities, like the EPHS art exhibits, classes for adults and children and Art in the Park. She was instrumental in starting photography as a category in the Fine Arts Department at the Canfield Fair. She has won many awards with her own photography, having exhibited widely in the area, including Columbus, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Erie, Canton and Youngstown's Butler Institute of American Art. Most recently, a one-man retrospective in Newton Falls Library. Her love for photography and genealogy research and the love of art, music and nature are her legacy to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite memories are of camping with family and friends at the family campground in Titusville, Pa., and long weekends at Put-N-Bay. Her lifelong friendships are her treasured jewels, especially the Tuesday Nite Dinner Club. Other activities include 10 years with the Spirit of the Valley Chorus of Sweet Adelines International. She has been a performing member of the Trumbull Senior Production Company, which is owned by her son Jason. She was also a past member and past Lt Commander of the Mosquito Lake Power Squadron. She was also a founding member of the Trumbull County Society for Psychic Research and also Single for Any Reason. She is survived by her 5 children, Jason Burgermyer, with whom she shared his home, Tamra George, Kathryn (Richard) Antill, David Burgermyer and Elizabeth (William) Shields. Barb had 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She leaves a sister Joannie (Don) Sutton and a brother Harold Bradford. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. We also have to mention all her kitties at home. Barb was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Raymond. With her wishes, a cremation has taken place. The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to the family to help with funeral expenses. A memorial celebration of Barb's life will be March 14th at noon at First Baptist Church of Newton Falls followed by a lunch at James Funeral Home in their fellowship hall.
