Bertha M. Stockton-Spence age 87 of Paris Twp passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Friday Feb 20, 2026 at her residence. She was born on April 24, 1938 in Martin Co., KY the daughter of the late William Bailey and Myrtle (Evans) Bailey. Bertha lived in Paris Twp, since 2004, formerly of Louisville, KY and Loris, SC. She married Mayo V. Spence on June 25, 2005 and they enjoyed 12 years of marriage together until his death on May 14, 2017. Bertha worked for the Phillip Morris Co. in Louisville, KY as a Line Packer/Machine Operator for 30 years retiring in 1994. She was a faithful member of the Heritage Baptist Church in Ellsworth, OH for many years. Bertha enjoyed quilting, sewing, traveling, working in her flower garden, and was very devoted to her church. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mayo Spence, 4 sisters: Nancy, Goldie, Thelma, Minnie, and 6 brothers: Ed, Walter, Luke, Russ, Tom, and Phillip.

Bertha is survived by: 3 sons: George Stockton of Paris Twp, Carlin Stockton of Paris Twp, Anthony & Laura Stockton of Columbus, OH, 3 grandchildren: Natalie, Courtni, Chase, and 5 great grandchildren: Christian, Elizabeth, Noah, Theodore, and Oliver.

Funeral services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Friday Feb. 27, 2026 at 1:00pm with Pastor Kevin Stroup officiating. Calling hours will be from 11:00am - 1:00pm. She will be laid to rest beside her husband Mayo at Hawley Cemetery in Paris Twp.
