Betty Lou Balzer, age 75 of Braceville passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital of natural causes. She was born on October 23, 1942 in Cleveland, OH the daughter of the late Clifford Paul Petersen and Sarah (Edgar) Petersen. Betty received her formal education from Berkshire High School in Burton, OH and graduated in the Class of 1961. She has lived in Braceville since 1978 formerly of East Clairdon, OH. Betty has worked in the Shipping & Receiving Department at Therm-O-Link in Garrettsville for the last 33 years. Some of her interests include going to 4-H functions, raising beef cattle, and baking. She is preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother who raised her since she was 11 years old Sophia Petersen, 1 sister Peggy Dinallo, and 1 brother Kenneth Petersen.

She will be dearly missed by her loving husband: William (Bill) K. Balzer whom she married on Sept 20, 1969: 1 daughter: Sherry & Chuck Young of Newton Falls, OH, 2 sons: Stephen & Jennifer Balzer of Warren Twp, OH, William C. & Cindy Balzer of Braceville, 1 sister: Dorothy Hall of Middlefield, OH, 1 brother: Paul & Joyce Petersen of Middlefield, OH, 2 step-brothers: William Sallee of Marysville, OH, Denver Sallee of Newbury, OH, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren.

The family will receive friends for calling hours at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 4-6 pm. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 10:00 am. Betty will be laid to rest at Braceville Twp Cemetery. The family has requested that all donations please be made to the Trumbull County 4-H Endowment Fund, Ohio State University Extension 4-H Program 520 West Main St. Suite 1 Cortland, OH 44410.
