Betty Jane Kifer, age 66, of Austintown, passed away peacefully into eternal life on September 18, 2014 at 5:03AM following a brief illness. She was born on May 18, 1948, in Sewickley, PA the daughter of the late Thomas A. Meeker & Anna (Nicklosh) Meeker. Betty married the love of her life, Veryl (Doc) Kifer on March 20, 1971 and they have enjoyed 43 years of marriage together. Betty & Veryl had lived in Austintown for 6 years, formerly of Champion. She had worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Warren as a shift supervisor for 12 years. Then she worked as a warehouse laborer for Scholastic Books for 7 years retiring in 2008. Betty & Veryl attended the Old North Church in Canfield. She loved listening to music, watching movies, gardening, and going to Zumba classes. Most of all she loved being with her family. Memories of Betty will be carried on by her loving family; her husband: Veryl (Doc) Kifer of Austintown; her son & daughter-in-law Kevin & Jenna Kifer of Cortland; her sisters & brother-in-laws Fran & Rudy Stern of Beaver Falls, PA, Gloria & Bill Vass of Fort Myers, FL; and one grandson: Dominic Kifer. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Thomas J. Meeker. Calling hours will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral Services will be held at the North-Mar Church 3855 East Market St. Warren, OH 44484 on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 11:00am with Pastor Myron Daum officiating.
