Betty Louise Phillips, age 85 of Champion passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Windsor House of Champion. Betty was born on Nov. 11, 1930 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Joseph and Doris Anne (Dovala) Derfiny. Betty married the love of her life, George Phillips Jr. on June 12, 1948. Betty and George were blessed with 41 years of wonderful marriage until his passing on Jan. 20, 1989. She has lived in Champion for the last 50 years as a housewife and raised two wonderful children. Betty greatest joy is spending time with her children and her grandchildren. Betty is survived by her loving family, her daughter, Linda (Charles) Parker of Warren, her son, George Phillips III of Champion, sister, Dorothy Lapp of Youngstown, 3 grandchildren and a great grandchild. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Per Betty's wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, George at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
