Obituary

Beverly (Jean) Housel age 96 of Lordstown was called home to Jesus on Feb 24, 2024 at the Shephard of the Valley Nursing Home in Howland.  She was born on Jan 4, 1928 in Warren, OH the daughter of the late Ewalt A. Radtka and Ora Mae (Hanna) Radtka. She had lived in Lordstown for most of her life graduating from Lordstown High School in the Class of 1946 and proudly served as a cheerleader.  Jean married the love of her life, Raymond (Bob) L. Housel on May 12, 1950, and they have enjoyed the past 44 years of marriage together until his death on Dec. 1, 1994.  She worked at Packard Electric in Warren where she was Crowned Queen.  Jean also worked at Imperial Communities in Lordstown a family-owned business as a sales secretary from 1966-2019.  She loved to have fun, always a kind word and sunny disposition.  One of her favorite places to go was Disney World.  She and Mickey were born the same year.  She loved Sudoku puzzles, riding motorcycles and snow mobiles, swimming, cooking, and especially her grandchildren. Jean loved her church family at the Lordstown Lutheran Church where she served on Alter Guild, taught Vacation Bible School, and helped in other various areas. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray, her brother Teddy Radtka. Jean was also lovingly greeted in heaven by several beautiful Angels, her great grandchildren that filled her arms with great joy.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children who were blessed to have her as their mom: 1 daughter: Dolly & Harvey Lutz of Warren, 2 sons: Jeff & Patricia Housel of Lordstown, Raymond & Phyllis Housel of North Jackson, OH, 8 grandchildren: Raymond & Janeil Housel, Roger & Kelly Housel, Jared & Emma Housel, Jeney & Neal Bryant, Fredrick & Lauren Housel, Brittany & Hugo Mendez, Harvey & Elizabeth Lutz, Hanna & Rob Telego, 8 great grandchildren: Louis & Anna Housel, Ella & Daphne Wason, Sabina Landy, Jack Housel, Harvey & Henry Lutz, a sister in law: Fredia Radtka and many much loved nieces & nephews, and her beloved cat  "Bootsy".

Funeral services will be at the Lordstown Lutheran Church on Friday March 1, 2024 at 11:00am with Rev. Steve Brown officiating.  Calling hours will be at the Lordstown Lutheran Church on Thursday Feb 29, 2024 from 5:00- 7:00pm. Jean will be laid to rest beside her husband Ray at Lordstown Cemetery. The family has requested that all donations please be made to the Lordstown Lutheran Church 5615 Palmyra Rd. Warren, OH 44481 in her memory. We would like to say a special thank you to the Shepard of the Valley in Howland and Traditions Hospice for the kindness and love that they gave Jean during her last 15 months.
