It is with much sorrow that we have to tell you about the passing of Bruce Thomas Knodel on Wednesday, July 18th, 2012 at his home. If you knew Dad you knew what kind of man he was. For the rest of you I won't bore you with a lengthy list of accolades. Most important Dad was a good Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He was born on June 2, 1936 in Warren, Ohio, the son of the late Clarence Adelbert & Grace (Nolty) Knodel. Bruce married the love of his life, Valerie Quinn Langston on August 31, 1957 and they enjoyed 54 blessed years of marriage together. He was an electrician for Packard Electric for 15 year and was also a Sergeant for Braceville Police Department for 18 years. Bruce was a member of the US Army serving during the Korean War. He was a proud member of the Leavittsburg Church of God, a life member of the National Rifle Association, and a member of the American Association of Forensic Photographers. He was also a scout master for Boy Scouts Troop #78 out of the St. Joseph's Church for over 15 years, as well as a member of the Order of the Arrow. Bruce was a member of the Outdoor Writers of Ohio, a founding member of the Newton Falls Sportsman Club and past president of the Trumbull County Federation of Sportsman. Memories of Bruce will be carried on by his loving family; his wife Valerie Knodel of Newton Falls; his son & his wife Pete & Sahar Knodel of Braceville; his Grandson Sam Knodel; his Granddaughter & her husband Jeigh & Ross Maynard; his Great Granddaughters Alexendria & Addison Knodel; and his Great Grandson Aiden Knodel. Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Henrietta Sheller and Marcella Knodel. Dad, We are all going to miss you and we love you. Tell every one we miss them and love them also. We love you Dad and give Sassy a bone for me. Funeral Services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 7:00PM. Where calling hours will be held two hours prior from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. Rev. Fred Bell will be officiating. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers all donations can be made in Bruce's Memory to Trumbull County Federation of Sportman, 342 Argyle St. Youngstown,OH 44512.
