Bryon A. Sumpter, 59, of Newton Falls passed away suddenly at University Hospital in Ravenna March 26, 2025. He was born on December 22, 1965 in Ravenna, Ohio the son of late Delbert (Bud) Sumpter and Virginia (Simmons) Sumpter. Bryon lived most of his life in Newton Falls; graduated from Newton Falls High School in the Class of 1984. After high school, he proudly served in the US Air Force as a Sergeant during Operation Desert Storm from 1984–1994. He worked as a Dental Lab Technician for many years and owned his own business before early medical retirement and return to Newton Falls.

Bryon will always be remembered for his grin and quick wit. He would never pass up the exchange of a good joke or clever pun. We can all hear him laughing at his own joke, even now. He treasured his time with friends and family- whether it be darts with his crew, or making direct eye contact with the children. He enjoyed golfing and fishing, and especially appreciated golf trips with his buddies. He was an enthusiastic Ohio State Buckeye fan, which partnered with his disgust for the SEC. A pitcher of homemade sweet tea will never taste the same with his passing.

He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Ashley Sumpter; sister Jo Beth and Richard Gibbs; brother, Dan Sumpter; niece, Courtney (Gibbs) Banks; along with  several very cherished friends and family.

Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends for calling hours at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 from 5-6pm. Military services will be performed by the Newton Falls Veterans Honor Guard at 6:00pm. Following, anyone who would like to continue sharing memories and stories of time cherished with Bryon, can meet at The Amvets Post 112 in Newton Falls.
