Carl H. Byer Sr., age 86, of Newton Falls entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 24, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Carl was born in Pricetown on September 4, 1924, the son of James C. & Marie (Brobst) Byer. He has lived in Newton Falls his entire life. Carl married the former Martha L. Rockenfelder on December 31, 1951 and they were married 50 wonderful years until her passing on November 19, 2002. Carl retired in 1986 after 42 years as a truck driver for Denman Tire. He was a member of Pricetown Methodist Church and a former member of Local #98 of Denman Tire. Carl enjoyed going to antique shows, gardening & flowers and spending his winters in Florida. Loving memories of Carl will be carried on by many nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his wife Martha, one son, Carl Byer Jr, on December 12, 2010, his sister, Vera Pearce and his brother, William Byer. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at James Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 am at the funeral home.
