Obituary

Carl Wayne Gump passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Laurie Ann Nursing Home with his loving family by his side. Carl was born September 13th 1925 in Mannington WV, the son of Carl D. and Rilla (Hayes) Gump. Carl served during WWII in Europe with the US Army 20th Armored Division. PFC Carl W. Gump was awarded the Bronze Star for his valiant action in the European theater. He married Concita C. (Tina) Spagnola on August 10, 1946, Tina passed away on July 21, 1991. He and Tina came to live in the Paris Township area in the early 50s and then finally settled and raised their family in Newton Falls, where Carl still resides. He worked at Rockwell International in Newton Falls until it closed, worked for the Government at the Ravenna Arsenal, and the Lordstown Depot and then most recently at the Youngstown Airbase until he retired. Mr. Gump was a member of the first Christian Church in Newton Falls, where he had been a deacon in his younger years. He is also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. Carl loved getting together with his family on holidays. Loving memories of Carl will be carried on by his loving family: two daughters and their husbands, Cristina & Dave Hagenbaugh of Akron, Oh, Patricia & Mark Bruns of Edinboro, Pa. son: Dennis Gump of Chardon, Oh and son and daughter-in-law: Gary & Sarah Gump of Palmyra, Oh. One sister: Loretta Toth of Newton Falls, Oh. Grand daughters: Rachel Hagenbaugh, Shannon Schmidt and her husband Dan, Marie Pitzer and her husband Josh, and step grand daughter: Annie Brooks. Grandson: Jeffrey Gump and his wife Cari, and step grandson: David "Moe" Hagenbaugh. Three great grandsons: Dauwson Pitzer, Gavin and Garrett Schmidt. Carl was preceded in death by his parrents, His wife Tina and two brothers:James Howard Gump and infant brother Edward Gump and infant great grand daughter Alexa Marie Pitzer The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 22, from 6 to 8 PM at James Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 AM. Rev. Dan Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Newton Falls Cemetery and the Newton Falls Honor Guard will provide a military service.
