Carmel Virginia (Parsons) Shimko, went home to be with our Lord while her family was by her side on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at her residence. Carmel was born on February 4, 1920 in New Martinsville, WV, the daughter of Chester & Georgia (Morrison) Parsons. She relocated to Ohio, and lived in Windham, later moving to Newton Falls where she and her husband operated Shimko's Christmas Tree Farm. Carmel enjoyed being with her family, playing cards and playing her guitar. She loved spending time outdoors walking in the woods, visiting the beach in Nags Head, NC, and taking long scenic drives. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Newton Falls. Loving memories of Carmel will be carried on by twin brothers, Charles Kaye and Chester Jaye Parsons, daughters, Sharon (Herb) Tabor, Opal (Skip) Young, step-daughter, Robin (Shimko) Garvin, grandchildren, Kimberly (Sparks) Rininger, Kelly (Sparks) Wogan, Donald Sparks, Michael Young, Amanda (Young) Ihrig, and Jessica Bucco, as well as many nephews, great-grandchildren and step-family members. Carmel was preceeded in death by her parents, sisters, Mary "Dolly" Buzzard and Edith Geiser, brother, Arch "Ike" Parsons, daughter, Brenda Kay (Grim) Bucco, and step-son, Lester Shimko. Also preceded her in death were her husbands, Asa Keith Kinney, Omar Grim and Steven P. Shimko. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at James Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Carmel will be laid to rest next to her husband Steven at Newton Falls Cemetery.
