Obituary

Carolyn June Hurst, age 80, of Braceville passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday July 13, 2011 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. Carolyn was born on May 20, 1931 in Tyler County, WV the daughter of the late Eben Lawrence & Sophronia Gay (Jones) Duty. Carolyn married the love of her life, Harold J. Hurst on February 25, 1948 and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage together before he passed away on November 21, 2009. She had lived in Niles for the past 3 years, but still owns her own home in Braceville Twp. Carolyn was a very active member of the Braceville Christian Church for more than 55 years; where she was active in Joy Fellowship and Bible study classes. She was also a member and leader of the 4-H club and was involved in the Round Lake Women's Retreat. Some of her interests include crocheting, cooking, canning and she loved animals. One of her greatest joys was spending time with the grandchildren and being very active with them. Memories of Carolyn will be carried on by her loving family; her daughter & son-in-laws, Gloria & Ron Gearhart of Leavittsburg, Sandra & Ron DiGiacobbe of Warren, Barbara & Brad White of Pierpont, OH, Diane & Dave Reppert of Shillington, PA; her son & daughter-in-law, Harold Wayne & Yvonne Hurst of Hartford; her brother Eben (Buddy) Duty of WV; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters and 1 granddaughter, Denise Michelle Hurst. The family will receive friends for calling hours at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Sunday July 17, 2011 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Braceville Christian Church on Monday July 18, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. Jon Pratt officiating. Carolyn will be laid to rest next to her husband Harold at Braceville Twp. Cemetery. The family asks that all contributions be made to the Braceville Christian Church Building Fund, 4387 Church Street SW, Newton Falls, Ohio 44444 in memory of Carolyn.
