Obituary

Charles (Fred) Frederick Britt, age 85 of Lake Milton passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday March 8, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Jan. 28, 1931 in Cedar Grove, WV the son of the late James B. Britt and Gertrude (Hill) Britt. Fred served his country faithfully as a US Marine during the Korean War Conflict. He married the love of his life, Hazel Marie Moore on Dec. 20, 1952 and they enjoyed 40 years of marriage together until she passed on Oct. 27, 1992. He has lived in Lake Milton for the past 10 years, formerly of Diamond, OH. Fred worked as a die setter at Youngstown Steel Door Company for 39 years retiring in 1990. He loved to go hunting, fishing, football especially the Cincinnati Bengals, visiting with friends and family, and loved his dip of tobacco. Fred is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hazel, 2 sons: Bill & Kenny Britt, 2 sisters: Helen Landers & Virginia Dooley, 3 brothers: Jim, Joe, Lou Britt. He is survived by: 1 daughter: Tammy & Charles (Nic) Niccum of Lake Milton, OH, 1 sister: Bertha & Darrell Bowman of St. Cloud, FL, 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Saturday March 12, 2016 at 1:00pm with calling hours two hours prior to service time from 11:00am -1:00 pm. Rev. Calvin Mason will officiate the service. Fred will be laid to rest beside his wife Hazel at Hawley Cemetery in Paris Twp, OH. The family would like to thank everyone at Grace Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Fred.
