Obituary

Claudius (Mickey) Herald Dye Sr. age 92 of Braceville passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the University Hospital of Cleveland. He was born on June 9, 1918 in Wallace, WV the son of the late Claude Dye and Allie (Booher) Dye. Claudius married Dorothy A. Genchur on July 14, 1942 and she passed away after 54 yrs of marriage on Dec. 8, 1996. He has lived in Braceville since 1945 formerly of Newton Falls. Claudius proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. He was injured in the Campaign of Sicily on July 2, 1944, and was awarded the Purple Heart for his wounds received in action. After his Honorable discharge from the Army Claudius worked for Thomas Steel for 36 years retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Braceville Christian Church and the Newton Falls First Baptist Church. Claudius is a member of the Disabled Veterans and was volunteer Firefighter for Braceville Fire Department for several years. He loved traveling, camping, watching sports, and spending time with his grandkids. Claudius was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, two sisters Lula Pavell, and Hazel Zitka, four brothers Channath, Berlin, Ora, and Eugene Dye, his daughter & son-in-law Sandra & David White. Memories of Claudius will be carried on by his: Three Sons: Richard & Becky Dye of Braceville Claudius (Mickey) & Cheryl Dye of Braceville Gary & Annette Dye of Newton Falls, Two Daughters: Joyce & Stanley Whetstone of Braceville, Lisa Spray of Newton Falls, 6 Grandchildren, 5 Great Great Grandchildren. The family would like to thank all the friends in the Amish community for their support over the years. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 4, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM at the funeral home on Saturday, March 5, 2011 where there will also be calling hours from 9:00 to 10:00AM. Rev. Steve Spurlock will officiate the service. Claudius will be laid to rest next to his wife Dorothy at Newton Falls Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the James Funeral Home, 8 East Broad Street, Newton Falls, OH 44444 (330)872-5440.
