Cynthia Ann May-Dotson, age 82 of Newton Falls lovingly known as Cindy, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday August 31, 2026 surrounded by the love and memories of a life beautifully lived. She was born on May 12, 1944, in Pontiac, MI the daughter of the late Robert Fitzgerald May and Catherine Marie (McGuire) May. Cindy grew up in Adrian, MI, where she began a life defined by compassion, determination, and a genuine love for others. She earned her nursing degree and became one of the youngest registered nurses in the history of the hospitals where she worked. Nursing was a natural expression of who Cindy was—a woman who cared deeply, served willingly, and always found a way to help those around her. Although she loved nursing, Cindy made the selfless decision to leave her career to raise her children. Her family became her greatest calling, and she poured her heart into being a mother. She never stopped caring for others, though. Cindy had a true servant’s heart. If someone needed help, she was there. She would drop everything to support her children and the people she loved—whether that meant helping with Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, attending sporting events, running errands, or even taking the neighborhood girls shopping. She gave her time and love freely, never expecting anything in return.Cindy shared her life with her beloved husband, Lynn B. Dotson. Together, they created countless memories and enjoyed traveling to their cabins in Pennsylvania and Upper Michigan. Those trips were special to Cindy, providing time to relax, explore, and simply enjoy life with the person she loved. Her family was the center of her world.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Lynn B. Dotson; her son, Brent Dotson; her daughter, Nicole Baughman, and son-in-law, Douglas Baughman; and her beloved grandchildren: Gabriel & Grace. Her love for her family was unconditional, and she treasured every moment she shared with them.
Cindy also had a special place in her heart for her golden retrievers, loving them as though they were her own children. They brought her tremendous happiness and companionship, and she cared for them with the same tenderness she showed everyone she loved. Those who knew Cindy will remember her infectious smile, her warm spirit, and her ability to make people feel loved and welcomed. She had a heart filled with pure joy. She gave so much of herself to others and left a little piece of her kindness wherever she went. Cindy’s life was not measured by titles or accomplishments, but by the countless lives she touched through simple acts of love and service. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, friend, caregiver, and an unwavering source of love. Her greatest legacy will be the love she gave so freely and the memories she created with the people fortunate enough to know her. Though her family will miss her more than words can express, they can find comfort in knowing that Cindy lived a life full of love, laughter, generosity, and purpose. Her smile will be remembered. Her kindness will be carried forward. Her love will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
