Obituary

Darwin D. Horn, 82, of Newton Falls passed away after a battle with pneumonia July 18, 2015. He was born December 11, 1932 in Howard, Ohio. Darwin was a very proud member of the US Marine Corps and served during the Korean War. He married Donna M. Duston on November 16, 1952 and after finishing his service they moved to Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Darwin came to Newton Falls in 1955 working for Rockwell International for 20 years. He then started working for the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office in 1977. In 1982 he was commissioned by the Bazetta Police Dept and attended the Police Academy. After graduating from the academy, he was hired as a Police Officer in the Warren Township Police Department from 1983 until he retired in 1992. Darwin was a member of the Newton Falls United Methodist Church, the Newton Falls Masonic Lodge #462, Newton Falls VFW #3332, Newton Falls American Legion #236, Marine Corps League, Scottish Rite Valley of Youngstown, and the APCO Hunting Club. He was a proud veteran and enjoyed hunting, fishing, jeep riding, bowling, watching football (go Ohio State and Cleveland Browns!), and reading the newspaper. He was admired and loved by all his family and friends and will be missed greatly. He is survived by his wife, Donna; two children, Linda (John) Wainscott and Mike Horn; 3 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Ralph, Wesley, and William Horn. Viewing will be at James Funeral Home - 8 Broad St, Newton Falls, OH 44444 on Friday July 24 from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Private Burial Services will be held in Howard, Ohio.
