Deborah Jean Koffel, age 65, of Southington passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 18, 2018. Debbie was born on Aug 3, 1952 in Warren the daughter of the late Donald J. and Martha J. (Kistler) Mounts. Debbie graduated from Braceville High School in 1970. Debbie worked for the Trumbull County Board of Education Service Center for 25 years retiring in 2010 due to her failing health.

Debbie married the love of her life , Glen A. Koffel on Sept. 27, 1975. Debbie and Glen were blessed with 24 years of marriage until his passing on Sept 1, 1999. After marrying her husband, the two operated Koffel Quarter Horses for several years. Debbie was a long time member of the Northern Ohio Quarter Horse Association where she served on the Board of Directors. She was also active in the Dusty Boots Riding Club and the Trumbull County Kennel Club. Debbie was a member of the Southington United Methodist Church and Eastern Star #79. She enjoyed attending horse shows, dogs shows and helping kids in 4-H. Debbie was a very giving person and Grandma Bootsie, as she was affectionately known, was a mentor to many youth and adults alike.

Loving memories of Debbie will be carried on by her daughter Dawn (Brian) Allison of New Waterford, her son J.D. Koffel and his fiancé Ashley of Nelsonville, granddaughters Haely and Savannah Allison. Debbie was preceded in death by her husband and stepson Michael Koffel.

Per Debbie's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday May 25, 2018 at 1:00 pm at James Funeral Home with visitation two hours prior from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Debbie will be laid to rest beside her husband Glen at Newton Falls Cemetery.
