Obituary

Donald Robert Armstrong, age 83, Cape Coral , FL, formerly of Newton Falls entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 22, 2012. On July 7, 1928 in Braceville, OH, Charles W. and Lylia Grace (Clark) Armstrong were blessed with the birth of their son, Donald. He has lived in Cape Coral since 2002. Don married the former Viola June Sinn on April 18, 1957 and she passed away on Sept. 22, 2002 after 45 years of marriage. Don was a Foreman at Republic Steel for 38 years before retiring on May 1, 1981. He also worked at James Funeral Home from 1991 till 2002. Upon moving to Cape Coral, FL he worked for Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens and then Horizon Funeral Home. Don volunteered at the Kiwanis Thrift Store in Cape Coral, FL. Don was a member of the Pricetown United Methodist Church and the Cape Coral First United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Farm Bureau Board of Trumbull County, Newton Falls Grange, Newton Township Zoning Board, Kiwanis in Newton Falls, and Cape Coral, FL. He enjoyed being a Trumbull County 4H Advisor. Loving memories of Don will be carried on by his three daughters, Linda (Leonard) Workman of Newton Falls, Esther Townsend of Girard, Karen Armstrong of Newton Falls, five sisters, Beverly Owens of FL, Grace Burton of Southington, Lois (Marion) Walchle of Mount Union, Arlene Gibbs of Niles, Judy Armstrong of Sharon, PA., two brothers, Howard (Maria) Armstrong of Boardman, Philip (Saundra) Armstrong of Atlanta, GA., four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and his companion, Lynne Stull of Cape Coral, FL. Don was preceded in death by his wife Vi, and three brothers, Charles, Richard and Gerald Armstrong. Per Don's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2012 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at James Funeral Home with a memorial service immediately following at 3:00 pm with Pastor Jerry Herron officiating. In lieu of flowers the family asks that all donations please be made in Don's name to Newton Falls Kiwanis, 41 West Broad Street, Newton Falls, OH 44444.
