Donald L. Cooper, age 93 of Warren, passed away peacefully to his heavenly home on September 3, 2024. He was born on May 15, 1931 in Tamaqua, PA, the son of the late Joseph Herbert Cooper and Esther Ruth (Moll) Cooper. Donald graduated from Newton Falls High School in the Class of 1949. He then served his country during the Korean War with the US Navy as a photographer from 1951–1955. Don married the love of his life, Nancy Meredith on July 12, 1953 and they have enjoyed the past 71 years of marriage together. Don & Nancy have lived in the Trumbull County area for over 40 years. He faithfully served as a United Methodist Pastor for many different churches in Ohio for 30 years, retiring in 1994. Don enjoyed photography, Bob Ross painting, singing, playing the French horn, and writing poems. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cortland. In his younger years he enjoyed playing in the Warren Jr. Military Band, and was a drum major in the Newton Falls Marching Band. Don is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters: Vera Kurtz, Evelyn Cooper, and 1 brother: William Cooper.
He is survived by: his wife: Nancy M. Cooper of Warren, 1 daughter: Pamela & Mike Talanca of Newton Falls, 2 sons: Bruce & Debbie Cooper of Newton Falls, Scott & Kimberly Cooper of Warren, 7 grandchildren Clifford & Sarah Cooper, Alex (Elizabeth) Cooper, Eric (Cassandra) Cooper, Michael Talanca, Bernadetta (Rett) Watts, Jaynie (Erik) Hansen, & Mark (Elizabeth) Cooper; and 9 great-grandchildren Sierra Cooper, Presley Cooper, AJ Cooper, Otto Cooper, Maeve Cooper, Berkley Cooper, Haddie Cooper, Avery Hansen, & Joel Hansen.
Calling hours will be from 11:00am - 1:00pm at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Friday, September 6, 2024, where a funeral services will follow immediately at 1:00pm with Pastor James Garber officiating. Cremation will follow the service. He will be laid to rest at Newton Falls Cemetery.
