Obituary

Donald Frederick Taylor, 84, of Newton Falls passed away Friday night, March 21, 2014 at his home with his loving family by his side. Don was born in New Castle, PA on August 12, 1929 the son of the late Frederick John & Helen A. (Waldinger) Taylor. Don grew up in New Castle and married the love of his life Jean Ann Efaw on March 12, 1948 and they moved to Newton Falls Ohio to raise their family in 1950. Don worked for years at The Rockwell International bumper plant in Newton Falls as an engineer designing automation and machinery to improve production. After Rockwell closed in Newton Falls, Don spent several years at various Rockwell plants or subsidiaries around the country serving as an engineer and supervisor. He last worked for Dayton Parts in Harrisburg PA. After retiring Don and Jean returned to Newton Falls to enjoy his retirement. Don had many hobbies and interest which he spent many hours perfecting. Don was very proud of his mission work and serving as a lay pastor at Bethesda Mission in Harrisburg PA. He raced in the Soap Box Derby as a young man and even made it to the national race in Akron.   He loved photography, advanced ham radio, riding his Honda Goldwing which he had to give up as his health diminished. He also loved to golf. He was a very talented ventriloquist, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Don and Jean would go on cruises, One of his most memorable trips was to Israel, but his favorite place to go was Myrtle Beach. It was something about being near the ocean, the tranquility that allowed family to enjoy each other. Those memories will be cherished and carried on by his family. His loving wife Jean Taylor of Newton Falls, OH, his daughters and their husbands; Susan & Gary Carlson of Newton Falls, and Joyce & Corey Eslinger of Enola PA, son and daughter in law David & Mary Taylor all of Newton Falls. Two sisters and their husbands; Ann & George Dobie of New Buffalo IN, Alice & Tom Totterdale of Fort Myers FL, one brother and his wife Bob & Gloria Taylor also of Fort Myers FL, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Marion Taylor.

The family will receive friends at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Monday March 24, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM where funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 25, 2014 at 11:00AM with Pastor Art Nicolli officiating. The family asks that all contributions take the form of donations to the Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, OH, 44512-2198 in memory of Donald F. Taylor.
