Obituary

Doris Lee Powell, age 89 of Edison, NJ passed away peacefully into eternal life on Thursday July 11, 2013 at the Brighton Gardens of Edison Assisted Living Home. She was born on February 11, 1924 in Roanoke, VA the daughter of the late Wilton E. Boyd & Pearl Ann (Simmons) Boyd. Prior to moving to Edison, NJ, Doris was a resident of Newton Falls since 1936, formerly of Alliance. She retired in 1991 after 30 years as a administrative assistant at Terex, a division of General Motors. Doris was a member of the Newton Falls United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star Chapter OES #79, and did volunteer work for several different organizations. She loved to travel and listen to music. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Roger Thomas Powell Jr., 2 sisters: Barbara Rood, Betty Glass and 3 brothers Wilton, Drue, and Ralph Boyd. Memories of Doris will be carried on by her loving family; her son & daughter-in-law Gerald & Barbara Powell of Metuchen, NJ, her sister & brother-in-laws Richard Glass of Champion, Paul & June Powers of Richmond, VA, Kayrl Ferrone of Sagamore Hills, OH; brother: Samuel Boyd of Sarasota, FL,, 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Newton Falls United Methodist Church on Monday July 15, 2013 at 12:00 pm with calling hours two hours prior to service time from 10:00AM to 12:00PM. Doris will be laid to rest at Newton Falls Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the James Funeral Home, 8 East Broad Street, Newton Falls, OH 44444 (330) 872-5440.
