Obituary

Douglas Andrew Grim of St. Cloud, MN died suddenly on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the St. Cloud Memorial Hospital. He was 32 years old. Doug was born in Shaker Heights, OH and moved to Palatine, IL in sixth grade. He graduated from William Fremd High School where he was active in math, science and band activities. As a Boy Scout, Doug earned his Eagle Award. Doug graduated from the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has continued to work in the field of computer science. His current employer was eBureau in St. Cloud, MN. Doug loved his family and friends, computers and techie things, mini golf and the out-of-doors that took him rollerblading, camping and hiking. Doug enjoyed figuring out how things worked, trying new recipes in his cooking, and working with glass etching. He had a passion for science, music and computer games. Doug was a man of many talents and interests. His young life was cut short unexpectedly and he will be greatly missed by his loving family. His sense of humor, love for friends and passion for technology were very important in his life. Doug was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Hylton A. Grim and Anna F. Grim of Newton Falls, OH and his maternal grandparents, Alvin Swanson and Ella A. Swanson of Cleveland Heights, OH. Doug is survived by his father, Thomas Harry Grim and his mother, Charlotte Alveda Grim of Austin, TX; his sister, Margaret Anne Loven and her husband, Erick Douglas Loven and their children, Abigail Joy Loven and Tucker Douglas Loven of Mahomet, IL. Calling hours will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls, OH from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 26. The funeral will be at the Newton Falls United Methodist Church at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, July 27. Burial will be at the Newton Falls Cemetery. Anyone wishing to make a memorial donation in his name is invited to select their favorite charity or the family is suggesting that donations be made to the American Heart Association, Museum of Science and Industry, or the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. The family has entrusted Doug's arrangements to James Funeral Home, 8 East Broad Street, Newton Falls, OH 44444.
