Earl Harry Husman, age 91 of Braceville passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday December 15, 2011 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. Earl was born on May 9, 1920 in Cleveland, OH the son of the late William John & Lena Caroline (Wholatz) Husman. Earl has lived in Braceville since 1960, formerly of Columbia Station, OH. After graduation from college Earl entered the US Navy. He was a 20 year veteran serving as a hospital corpsman. Earl was stationed at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked and served at the Battle of Midway. He was also stationed in New Zealand at the mobile hospital unit #4. After Earl's retirement as a Chief Petty Officer of the Navy in 1980, he was employed in auto sales at Sanzenbacker Motor Company in Warren for 20 years, retiring in 1982. Earl was also employed at Riverview Golf Course as a grounds keeper. During Earl's military career, he met and married Evelyn Veltman in September 1960, they were married for 17 years before her passing in August of 1977. Earl then married his second wife, the former Norma Allen Balzer on June 10, 1978 and they celebrated 33 years of marriage together this past June. Earl was a member of the Braceville United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Newton Falls Masonic Lodge #462, Pearl Harbor Survivors, FIJI Association, past president of the Braceville Lions Club, American Legion, and was on the Braceville Zoning Commission for 9 years. Earl along with Chet Nelson arranged memorial services for deceased veterans. Earl enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, golfing and playing cards. Memories of Earl will be remembered by: his wife, Norma Husman of Braceville, 3 sons, Earl G. Husman of Annapolis, MD, Keith & Carol Husman of Middlefield, Donald R. Husman of Champion, stepdaughter, Patricia & Larry Brobst of Southington, 2 stepsons, George & Jean Veltman of North Fort Myers, FL, James & Nanette Balzer of Braceville, 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn, 1 son, Tod O. Husman, 1 sister, Dorothy Wood and 1 brother, William E. Husman. Calling hours will be held at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Monday Dec. 19, 2011 from 7-9 pm. A Masonic Service will be be held at 6:30 pm. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Tuesday Dec. 20, 2011 at 11:00am with a visitation 1 hour prior to the funeral. Pastor Joan Purnell will be officiating the service. Cremation will follow, and then he will be laid to rest at Braceville Twp. Cemetery. The family asks that all donations be made to the Braceville United Methodist Church 589 Park Rd.
