Obituary

Eleanor P. Barrick, age 93, of Newton Falls passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. She was born on August 9, 1920 in Uniontown, PA the daughter of the late William Thompson Swartz and Elizabeth Marie (Schultz) Swartz. She graduated from Uniontown High School in 1939 and moved to Newton Falls in 1942. She married the love of her life , Joseph Paul Barrick on June 8, 1941, and they enjoyed 34 years of marriage together until he passed away on Dec. 7, 1975. Eleanor was a faithful member of the Newton Falls United Methodist Church and the Women's Circle. She loved traveling, crossword puzzles, golfing, playing bridge and cards, crafts, cooking, working at the church in the women's circle, and entertaining guests at her home. She also was a talented artist; and her paintings adorned the walls of her home. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Joseph.

She is survived by: 1 daughter: Darlene Bonniwell of The Woodlands, TX, 1 sister: Mildred Osborne of Uniontown, PA, 4 grandchildren: Halle Tempest & Paul Tempest of Cleveland, OH, Megan (Tempest) Mathis of Lafayette, CO, and Andrew Bonniwell of The Woodlands, TX. She had 2 great-grandchildren: Silas Mathis & Archer Mathis of Lafayette, CO.

Per Eleanor's wishes, cremation has taken place.  A Memorial service will be held at the Newton Falls United Methodist Church on Saturday May 17, 2014 at 11:00 am and calling hours one hour prior to service time from 10:00-11:00 am. Pastor Gordon Ferguson will be officiating the service. Eleanor will be laid to rest beside her husband Joseph at Newton Falls Cemetery. The family has requested that all donations please be made to the Newton Falls United Methodist Church 336 Ridge Rd. Newton Falls, OH 44444 in memory of Eleanor Barrick.
