Eleanor E. Spicko age 96 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday Feb. 23, 2025 at the Adventura at Assumption Village Nursing Home in North Lima, OH. She was born on July 13, 1928 in Youngstown, OH the daughter of the late Walter Rutana and Marie (Przepiora) Rutana.  Eleanor has lived in Newton Falls since 1960, formerly of New Springfield, OH where she graduated from New Springfield High School in the Class of 1945.  She then met and married the love of her life, Edward T. Spicko on Oct 4, 1947 and they enjoyed 38 years of marriage together until his death on Nov. 18, 1985.  Eleanor was the President/Owner of Spicko's Supermarket (Shop 'n Save) in Newton Falls for over 70 years. She was a faithful member of the St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church for many years.  Eleanor loved being with her family, cooking, going to the casinos, watching Cleveland Indians Baseball, and working at her store bagging groceries.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Edward T. Spicko, 1 daughter: Linda Spicko, 2 sisters: Julia Sakoman, Lottie Kurjan, and 4 brothers: Stanley, Ted, Chester, and John Rutana.

She is survived by: 2 daughters: Patricia Roland of Newton Falls, Susan Spicko of Newton Falls,  1 grandson: Nick & Tara Roland of Hudson, OH, and 3 great grandchildren: Ben, Max, & Reagan, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Thursday Feb 27, 2025 from 5:00- 7:00pm.  A prayer service will be at the funeral home on Friday Feb. 28, 2025 at 10:30am.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at the St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church in Newton Falls at 11:00am with Father David Merzweiler officiating. Private graveside services will be at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown where she will be laid to rest beside her husband Edward.
