Elva Mildred Cahill, age 104 of Southington entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Community Skilled Nursing in Warren. Elva was born in Southington on March 29, 1909, the daughter of Randolph & Beryl (Harwood) Collier. She moved back to the Newton Falls/Southington area in 1993 from Orlando, Florida. Elva married Edward L. Cahill on June 30, 1939. They were blessed with 52 years of marriage before his passing on January 12, 1992. Elva was employed for 18 years as a secretary with Thomas Steel. She was a member of the Christ Memorial Baptist Church in Warren. Elva loved reading, working crossword puzzles and traveling. Loving memories of Elva will be carried on by her neices and nephews, Wade & Marcy Collier of Lunenburg, MA, Tom & Nancy Collier of Southington, Sue & Richard Crawford of Newton Falls and Richard & Barbra Collier of Warren. Elva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward, her stepson, 2 brothers, Arvid & Reid Collier and a sister, Avis Collier. Calling hours will be held on Saturday November 16, 2013 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm at James Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 pm. Pastor Dave Luther will officiate.
