Emma E. Rex, age 85 of Newton Falls entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at her residence. Emma was born on January 20, 1931 in Bolivar, the daughter of the late Robert & Elva (Malcuit) Laughlin. Emma attended Newton Falls High School and graduated from Bolivar High School. Emma married Gene E. Rex on November 6, 1948. Emma and Gene were blessed with 47 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on October 10, 1994. Emma formerly worked for Newton Falls News and retired in 1993 from Laurie Ann Nursing Home. She was a member of the Eastern Star, former member of the Pythian Sister Lodge in Newton Falls where she was a past Chief. Emma enjoyed golfing, boating and spending time with her family. Loving memories of Emma will be carried on by her daughters; Barbara (Gary) Gordon of Newton Falls, Kim (Michael) Frey of Newton Falls, sons; Jack (Frances) Rex of Southington, Guy (Gail) Rex of Newton Falls, sister; Florence Steinmetz of Southington, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Gene and her sister, Jeanne Roper. Emma's family would like to give their heartfelt appreciation and thank you to Grace Hospice for their mom's care and emotional support. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:00am at the funeral home.
