Evelyn J. Ballas, age 93 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at her residence.  She was born on January 1, 1930 in Warren the daughter of the late Clyde & Celia (Richards) Smith. Evelyn has lived in Newton Falls most of her life, formerly of Windham. She graduated from Newton Falls High School in the Class of 1947. Evelyn then married Gabriel "Gabe" M. Ballas on May 9 , 1953 and they have enjoyed the past 69 years of marriage together. She worked as an Accounts Payable & Receivable Supervisor for Rockwell International for many years and retired  in 1985. She was a member of The Western Reserve Pembroke Welsh Corgie Club and a secretary for the Newton Falls Classmates and Friends. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, and 1 brother Melvin Smith.

She is survived by: her husband: Gabriel "Gabe" Ballas of Newton Falls. 2 nephews: Michael & Julie Ballas of Newton Falls, Kelly Smith of San Diego, CA,  1 niece: Ricia Ballas & Scott Davis of Dayton, OH. and 1 sister in law: Joanne Ballas of Newton Falls.

Funeral services will be at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church in Newton Falls on Thursday March 9, 2023 at 12:00pm with Father David Mertzweiler officiating.  And a prayer service will be at 11:30am at the funeral home. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Wednesday March 8, 2023 from 5:00- 7:00pm. Evelyn will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Newton Falls. The family has requested that all donations please be made to the St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church, 131 Quarry Street, Newton Falls, OH 44444 in her memory.
