Floyd Thomas Posey, Sr., age 85 of Newton Falls entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 28, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Floyd was born on September 1, 1931 in Nutter Fort, WV, the son of the late John & Cordellia (Allen) Posey. Floyd married the former Sally Jo Hammond on February 3, 1957. Floyd and Sally were blessed with 59 wonderful years of marriage. Floyd was a US Army veteran, 101st Airborne serving during the Korean War. Floyd worked at Rockwell International as a Quality Control Supervisor for 29 years retiring in 1976. He then went to work at General Motors as an assembler for 20 years retiring in 1997. He played banjo, mandolin, and bass guitar for a blue grass band named the Southern Comfort for 24 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and listening to blue grass music. Loving memories of Floyd will be carried on by his wife, Sally Jo Posey of Newton Falls, daughters; Pamela McCreary of Warren, Vicky Lynn (Charles) Fincham of Wayland, Patricia Jo (Mark) Matas of Newton Falls, Jackie Lou (Rick) Mossor of St. Mary's, WV, sons; Floyd Thomas (Julia) Posey, Jr. of Salem, WV, Gregory Scott (Bethany) Posey of Newton Falls, sisters; Martha Davis of Salem, WV, Zelda Johnson of Salem, WV, Mina (Allan) Metz of Lordstown, Karen Posey of Salem, WV, brother, Denzil Posey of Braceville, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Floyd is preceded in death by sister, Freda Swiger and brothers, Boyd, Roy, Ronald Posey Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at James Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Floyd will be laid to rest at St. Michael's Cemetery in Newton Falls.
