Obituary

Shirley Gene Dean Snowden age 76, of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal life on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 9:20AM at the Cleveland Clinic of natural causes. He was born on March 25, 1936, in East Liverpool. OH the son of the late James Richard & Vona A. (Audmon) Snowden. Gene married the love of his life, Shirley Ruth Myers on February 23, 1980 and they enjoyed 33 blessed years of marriage together. Gene worked as a welder for General Motors for 24 years before retiring in 1998. He was a member of the US Army and the Pricetown Methodist Church. He loved fishing in Ohio as well as Florida. Memories of Gene will be carried on by his loving family; his wife Shirley Ruth Snowden of Newton Falls; his daughter & her partner Alisia Snowden & Tom Schmidt of Ravenna; her daughter & husband Renee & Phil Hurst of SC; her step-daughter & her partner Jennifer Beckerstaff & Kevin Barone of Niles; his sons & their wives Gene & Linda Snowden of West Farmington, Frank & Tamara Snowden of Clarksburgh,WV; his step-sons & their wives John Bickerstaff & Becky Barnett of Warren, David & Tonya Bickerstaff of Vienna; his sisters & their husbands Virgina Ann & Jerry Hardwick of Champion, Julie & Don Clegg of Lordstown, Kathy & Denny Calvin of Salem, Barb & Barry Miller of Warren; his brother & his wife David & Pam Snowden of North Jackson; 14 grandchildren & 3 Great-Grandchildren. Gene is preceded in death by his parents, his step parents, 3 sisters and 6 brothers. Calling hours will be held at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Sunday, March 24, 2013 from 2:00 to 5:00PM. There will also be calling hours on Monday, March 25, 2013 one hour prior to service time at the Pricetown United Methodist Church from 10:00 to 11:00AM. Funeral services will immediately follow at the church at 11:00AM with Rev. Gordon Ferguson officiating. Gene will be laid to rest at Kerr Cemetery in Mineral Ridge where full military services will be held graveside. The family asks that contributions be made in the form of donations to the Pricetown United Methodist Church 4640 Pritchard-Ohltown Road SW Newton Falls, Ohio 44444.
