Gene F. "Pappap" Tibbs, age 80, of Leavittsburg passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday November 5, 2015 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Gene was born on June 22, 1935 in Bristolville, the son of Forrest & Blanche (Grimwood) Tibbs. Gene was one of 15 children. He was a lifetime resident of Leavittsburg. Gene married the former Mildred J. Ainsworth on December 3, 1957. Gene and Mildred were blessed with 57 years of wonderful marriage. Gene retired from Republic Steel in 1975 after 20 years. He then was a laborer on off shore drilling rigs. Gene was a US Army veteran stationed in Germany in 1956. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and cooking. Gene's greatest enjoyment was watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Loving memories of Gene will be carried on by his wife, Mildred J. Tibbs of Leavittsburg, daughters, Brenda (David) White of Newton Falls, Connie Melius of Warren, step-daughters, Debra Haines of Leavittsburg, Cheryl (Erick) Schwab of Niles, his son, Gene Tibb Jr. of Leavittsburg, sisters, Virginia Tibbs of Vienna, Loretta (Bob) Wilson of Newton Falls, brothers, Forrest, Donny, Doyle, Samson, Clayton, Darrel, Gerald and Glenn Tibbs, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Gene was preceeded in death by sisters, Juanita Tibbs, Thelma Tibbs and brothers, Blaine and Dale Tibbs. Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at James Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 pm.
