Genny (Eugenia) Brakas, age 91 of Chesterland passed away peacefully into eternal rest on August 27, 2013 at her home with her loving family and care giver by her side. Genny was born in Lithuania on May 27, 1922. Genny was the daughter of the late Felix Kobylinsky, violinist and conductor for Tsar Nicholas II, and niece of Eugine Kobylinsky, Commandant of The Alexander Palace for the provisional government, and niece of Adele and Leonard of Russia. Genny's mother Maria and father escaped the turmoil of destruction surrounding the Romanov dynasty. Genny's mother Maria passed when she was very young and she was raised by her father and Anna her loving stepmother. Genny grew up in Lithuania and was know for being a beautiful and feisty blue eyed blonde. She learned to play the violin from her father. She married Adam John Brakas Jr. on Sept 27, 1940, and enjoyed 71 years of marriage to Adam before his passing on July 18, 2012. Adam and Genny emigrated to England with their son Adam (Adomas Benediktas), where Genny played 2nd Violin in the Barclays Bank Musical Society. They came to the United States in 1960 living in Buffalo where Adam worked at the Ford Motor Company and Genny worked at two bakeries. After retirement, they moved to Ohio to be closer to their son Adam, his wife Marilyn and their granddaughters. Loving memories of Genny will be carried on by her son, Adam (Adomas Benediktas) Brakas of Chesterland, two granddaughters, Yvonne Jeanette Botsis (W. Thomas James) and Suzanne Denise Brakas as well as two Nephews, Vito Kabas and Valentine Kabas both of PA. Genny was preceded in death by her parents Felix and Maria Kobylinsky ,stepmother Anna, her husband Adam and two brothers, Benediktas Kobylinsky born 1919 in Petrograd and Leonard Kobylinsky born 1925 in Lithuania. Services will be held at the Gattozzi & Son Funeral Home, (440) 729-1906, 12524 Chillicothe Rd Chesterland Ohio, 44026 on Saturday, August 31, 2013.
