Obituary

George R. (Dick) Coss, age 81 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully on Monday, March 4, 2013 at the Hospice House in Poland. He was born on Nov. 14, 1931 in Martins Ferry, OH the son of the late Samuel Lawrence Coss and Bessie Mae (Beck) Coss. Dick went to Martins Ferry High School and graduated in the class of 1949. After high school he went into the US Air Force serving his country faithfully for 4 years during the Korean War. When he came home, he met and then married the love of his life, Inez Marie Stoner on April 26, 1958 and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage together until her death on Aug. 11, 2010. Dick has lived in Newton Falls since 1955, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH. He worked at AMF as a Mechanic, a manager at Sky Lanes Bowling Alley in Garrettsville, Riverview Golf Course in Braceville as a Starter for 22 years, and retired from Warren Marble & Granite Co. in Warren as a monument salesman for the last 20 years. Dick was a life long member of the Newton Falls First Congregational Church where he and his wife attended. Some of Dick's passions were golfing, bowling, bus trips to various places with his wife, and traveling. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Inez. Memories of Dick will be carried on by his family: 2 sons: David L. Coss of Youngstown, Richard & Shelly Coss of Newton Falls, 1 sister: Maryann Karl of Huntley, IL, 3 brothers: Ronald & Evie Coss of Irvine, CA, Ken & Dianne Coss of Warren, Jim & Mary Jane Coss of Rayland, OH, 2 grandchildren: Samantha & Julie, 1 great granddaughter Kara, and his beloved dog Kellie. Per Dick's request, cremation has taken place. There will be no calling hours or funeral services. A private family graveside service will take place in the spring at Newton Falls Cemetery where Dick & Inez will be laid to rest. The family would like to say" thank you" to all the staff and physicians at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren and Hospice House in Poland for the wonderful care they have giving to our father Dick. They have requested that all donations please be made to the Hospice House 9803 Sharrott Rd. Poland, OH 44514 in memory of Dick Coss.
