Harry Earl Byers, age 91, of Lordstown, passed into eternal life on, Saturday, December 3, 2011 of natural causes surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 6, 1920 in Indiana, PA, the son of the late David Earl & Elsie (Wilkins) Byers. He married the love of his life, Helen Louise Dilts on Dec 19, 1942 and they have enjoyed 68 years of marriage together. Harry worked at the Ravenna Arsenal before retiring from Republic Steel after 37 years in supervision cold strip shipping. He was a member of Lordstown Christian Church since 1953, where he was a former Deacon, the Republic Steel Supervisors Club and the Wagon Wheels Trailer Club. Harry enjoyed making ceramics, woodworking, camping, traveling, and spending 21 years wintering in Florida. He also enjoyed his antique tractor named "Allis". Memories of Harry will be carried on by his loving family; his wife, Helen L. Byers of Lordstown; his two sons Dennis (Jeannie) Byers of Lordstown, David (Kathy) Byers of Newton Falls; his daughter Lynda (David) Fowler of Lordstown; his five grandchildren Michael, Stacey, Doug, Jacob, Kelsey; his seven great-grandchildren Doug Jr., Seth, Lance, Evan, Melora, Ethan, Lukas; his brother Norman Byers; his two sisters Evelyn Brobst and Shirley Whitfield. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Helen Welty. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ballester, Dr. Rostum, Dr. Verbanic and Sandy Byers for the great care that they gave Harry. Calling hours will be held at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 from 6 to 8PM. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 11:30AM, where there will be calling hours one half hour prior to service time from 11 to 11:30AM. Rev. Dr. Bernard Oaks will be officiating the service. Harry will be laid to rest at Lordstown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would like all donations to be made to the Lordstown Christian Church 6370 Tod Avenue SW Warren, Ohio 44481.
