Helen Marie Sampson, age 91, of La Belle, FL, passed away peacefully into eternal life on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Lehigh Regional Medical Center in Lehigh Acres, FL. Helen was born on February 9, 1925, in Deerfield, OH the daughter of the late David & Leeta (Middleton) Sampson Sr. Helen had lived in La Belle, FL for 32 years formerly of Palmyra. While living in Ohio, she worked as an accountant for Oak Rubber Co. in Ravenna for many years. She was a member of the Carlson Methodist Church in LaBelle, FL., past member of the Palmyra United Methodist Church, the Pythian Sisters in Palmyra and the Palmy Chapter for the Eastern Star in Deerfield. Helen was a charter member of the Portage County Society of The Blind and worked as a treasurer for the Portage County Randolph Fair. Helen enjoyed roller skating, bowling, playing bingo and traveling. Helen is survived by her sisters; Frances Davis of Southington, Irma Head of Palmyra, Ruth (Richard) Gintert of Rootstown, and her brother David (Barbara) Sampson of Ravenna. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Freda Ward, Donna Jean Mound and brothers; Thomas & Robert Sampson. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday May 11, 2016 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at James Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Tim Paroz officiating. Helen will be laid to rest next to her parents at Palmyra West Cemetery in Palmyra. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to, Portage County Society of The Blind, 402 S.
