BERLIN CENTER: Hilda Grace Lance, age 91 of Berlin Center passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 15, 2015 at her home of natural causes. She was born July 29, 1924 in East Montpelier, Vermont, the daughter of the late Howard A. & Gertrude M. (LaForrest) Gallison. Hilda married Gerald (Jerry)Lance on September 15, 1962 and they enjoyed 53 years together. Jerry and Hilda lived in Berlin Center since 2000, formerly of Mecca for 30 years. She worked for Abruzzi's Cafe 422 as a waitress for 35 years. Hilda had her own band, Hilda Lance and the Rhythm Airs. She played the up rite bass and sang for over 40 years. Hilda sang and played music at Radio City Music Hall, Grand Old Opera, VFW, Moose Club, and Ponderosa Park. She loved her band and music. She enjoyed flea markets, garage sales and being around people. Most of all she loved her family. Memories of Hilda will be carried on by her loving family; her husband Gerald (Jerry) Lance of Berlin Center; her son Oliver (Rody) & Karrie Lance of Fowler; her grandson Oliver (Louie) Lance Jr. of Cortland; and one granddaughter Beth Ann & Cody Carr of Masscotte, FL. She was a proud great-grandma of two great grandchildren Cody Jr. & Levi Carr and one Step-Great Grandchild Tristin all of FL; and her nieces Carol of Warren, and Terri of Cleveland, Hilda is preceeded in death by her parents, two brothers Howard Gallison and Paul LaCount, and one sister Valma Gallison. Calling hours will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 5 to 7PM. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 7PM at the funeral home.
