Howard Gale Smith, Jr., age 49, of Newton Falls entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at his residence. He was born on July 26, 1967 in Ravenna the son of Howard Gale Smith Sr. & Shari Colleen (Prusky) Lallanilla. Howard graduated from Southeast High School in 1986 where he played football. Howard then joined the service where he was a US Air Force veteran serving for 21 years and achieving the rank of Master Sgt. While serving in the Air Force Howard earned his Associate's Degree in Electronics from the University of Maryland. After his retirement from the service, he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Wayland Baptist University in Alaska. He was currently working on his Master's Degree in Human Resources. He was employed as a Quality Control Inspector with Coontz Excavating. Howard was a member of the American Legion in Alaska. He coached his sons in football in their younger leagues. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, Cleveland Browns fan and the Cleveland Cavaliers where he celebrated their championship in Cleveland this past year. Howard was an avid hunter and fisherman. Howard is survived by his wife; Yolanda Smith of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, sons; Howard Smith of Puerto Rico, Shawn Smith of North Pole, Alaska, father, Howard G. (Denise) Smith Sr. of Ravenna, mother, Shari C. (Jose) Lallanilla of Southington, sisters; Kelli (Jeff) Lock of Ravenna, Jennifer (Shane) Kuberry of Ravenna, brother, Joshua (Samantha) Smith of Deerfield and his grandson, Howard Dane Smith. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 1:00 - 7:00 pm at James Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 7:00 pm.
