Howard D. Stocker, age 95 of Lordstown entered into eternal rest on Sunday November 14, 2010 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. Howard was born on March 14, 1915 in New Philadelphia, OH, the son of Andrew & Nellie (Bock) Stocker. He has lived in Lordstown most of his life. Howard was a 1934 graduate of Leavittsburg High School. Howard married the former Edith E. Ferrell on May 2, 1936 and they were married 69 years before her passing on April 11, 2006. He worked for Packard Electric as a tool crib attendant for 39 years retiring in 1972. He is a member of the Lordstown Christian Church, Newton Falls Masonic Lodge for over 65 years where he was the longest and oldest member of the lodge, Eastern Star Chapter 79 in Newton Falls, the Scottish Rite of Youngstown and a former member of the Masonic Campground in Garrettsville. He was a past trustee of Lordstown Twp. and one of the first council members of Lordstown Village. He was the last surviving charter member of the Lordstown Fire Department and was instrumental in getting their first fire truck. He enjoyed farming and woodworking. Loving memories of Howard will be carried on by his daughters, Ruth West of Lordstown, Theda & Harold Boyer of Austintown, Karen & Martin Jones of Lordstown, sons, William H. Stocker of Lordstown, Robert A & Megen Stocker of Champion, 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Howard was preceeded in death by his wife, Edith, one grandchild, one son-in-law, four sisters and three brothers. Masonic services will be held on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 6:30 pm at James Funeral Home. Calling hours will follow from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am at the funeral home where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 9:30 - 10:30 am. Howard will be laid to rest next to his wife at Pine Knoll Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to James Funeral Home, 8 East Broad Street, Newton Falls, OH 44444.
