Irene Zampino, 94, peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 14 at Laurie Ann Nursing Home in Newton Falls, Ohio, where she was lovingly cared for for the past 7 years. She was surrounded by her family and friends. She was born September 7, 1920 to Adam and Mary Earl Spell in Lake Milton, Ohio. She was married to Antonio "Tony" Zampino and together they ran Tony's Maple Drive Inn, a local tavern. A unique soul, Irene had a caring and generous heart and was known for her gregarious nature and her warm open smile. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Irene had a genuine love for people and after her retirement, she kept her home open to both family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Memories of Irene will be carried on by her loving family, her daughter and son-in-law, Mary & Don Garl of Newton Falls; her son, Robert Kinkis of Newton Falls; son and daughters-in-law, Russell & Annette Zampino of Warren and Anthony & Debra Zampino of Newton Falls; 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren & 7 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Irene was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband, Tony, sisters, Lena Patton, Mary Lewis and brothers, William, Adam (Buddy), Donald, Henry and James Spell. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at James Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday at 9:30 am at James Funeral Home followed by a 10:30 mass at St. Mary & St. Joseph Church with Father Thomas Ungashick officiating. Irene will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Newton Falls Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Irene's name to the Newton Falls Flower Fund - City Finance Dept., 419 N.
