Obituary

Jacob "Jake" J. Spletzer, 31 of Newton Falls, passed away on the morning of August 20, 2024 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown. He was born in Warren on March 25, 1993, the son of Mark J. and Tesa A. (Wujick) Spletzer.

A 2011 graduate of Newton Falls High School, Jake joined the Ohio Army National Guard where he served for 8 years and then transitioned to the Ohio Air Force Reserves where he was on his 6th year actively serving. For the past nine years, he worked for CSX Railway doing track maintenance. On June 11, 2016, Jake married the love of his life, Emily L. Gaston. They had been together for 12 years and recently celebrated 8 years of marriage. Together the two of them shared a beautiful life including their two children- Luke Matthew who recently turned 7 and Kiley Jo who turns 5 in November.

Jake was a hardworking, dedicated father and everybody's go-to guy. He loved keeping busing doing excavating jobs on the side and had many hobbies including golfing, hunting and motocross. Most of all, he loved spending time as a family and making memories with his wife and children. Jake was a proud veteran and lifetime member of Newton Falls Amvets Post 112. He was also a member of the Newton Falls 4th of July Committee and took pride in giving back to his community.

While we will never understand why his life was taken so soon, we must remember him for the amazing husband, father, son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend and co-worker he was.

Jake is survived by his wife, Emily; their two children; both at home; his parents, Mark and Tesa Spletzer of Newton Falls, a sister, Haley Spletzer of California and a brother, Nathan Spletzer of Florida, grandmother, Becky Shultz of Newton Falls, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins around the world.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and his maternal grandfather and a cousin in Colorado.

Cremation has taken place. Church Services will be Saturday, August 24th at 4:30 pm at Newton Falls Methodist Church and a Celebration of Life will follow at Newton Falls VFW at 5:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks monetary donations be made to Jake's wife Emily to set aside for their children's future.
