Obituary

James E. Cuttings Sr., 77 of Braceville passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 8, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on January 27, 1938 in Warren, to the late Clyde and Henrietta (Stone) Cuttings-Rood. Jim grew up in Braceville and attended Braceville High School. It was there that he met and married his high school sweetheart, Linda Olson Cuttings in 1958. They had two children. Jim was employed as a pipefitter-welder for Republic Steel in Warren. He retired in 2000 after 41 years of service. He always spoke fondly of the camaraderie and friendships he formed with his follow co-workers at the mill. Jim was a devoted and dependable family man. He was also a handyman of sorts, thus he was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. He enjoyed working on cars, tinkering on things, traveling and taking camping vacations with his family. He especially looked forward to taking trips to Florida to spend time with his extended family and friends. Jim was a proud grandpa and loved supporting his granddaughter in all of her endeavors. He also liked his sports. He supported the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Browns, and was a avid NASCAR fan. Loving memories of Jim will be carried on by his wife and love of his life, Linda A. Cuttings of Braceville, daughter, Debora (William) Cuttings-Gilbert of Bristolville, son, James Jr. (Kathie) Cuttings of Leavittsburg, granddaughter, Tiffanie Lynn (Dan) Bailey of Warren and his sister Wanda (Ben) Young of Newton Falls. Many in-laws and nieces and nephews will cherish their memories of time spent with Jim. Jim's parents preceded him in death, as did his step-father, Clyde Rood. Jim's father and mother-in-law, Carl and Mary Olson, his brother-in-law, Thomas Russell Olson, his brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie & Marilyn Rood, as well as many step brothers and sisters also preceded him in death. Jim's wishes are to be cremated and there will be no services. Jim will be laid to rest in the Braceville Cemetery at a later date and time. The family suggests that donations be made to MVI Hospice Care, 4891 Belmont Ave. Youngstown, OH 44505. They also want to express their sincere gratitude to the dedicated team of caregivers at MVI who assisted Jim through his courageous journey with Parkinson's disease. The family is grateful for MVI's support in offering comfort, care, compassion, and dignity not only to Jim, but to his family too. Finally, a heartfelt thanks to Jim's family physician, Dr. Truong for striving to make sure that Jim always received the best care available. Arrangements have been entrusted to James Funeral Home, 8 East Broad Street, Newton Falls, OH 44444 (330) 872-5440.
