James Everett Funk, age 90 of Mineral Ridge passed away peacefully into eternal life on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 12:45 AM at Washington Square Health Center in Warren. He was born on April 24, 1923, in Morgantown, WV the son of the late Ezra William Funk & Della Mae (Menear) Funk. James married the love of his life, Geraldine Leona Camp on March 2, 1946 and they enjoyed 62 blessed years of marriage together before she passed away on Nov. 18, 2008. James had lived most of his life in Cortland before moving to Mineral Ridge in 2008. He was a assembler for Packard Electric for 30 years before retiring in 1976.

James served his country faithfully as a member of the US Army serving during WWII from 1941 to 1945. He was in the Battle of the Bulge and stormed the beaches of Normandy. He also was a member of the Christian Church of Bazetta, Cortland Masonic Lodge and the American Legion in Cortland. Some of his passions were to hunt and fish.

Memories of James will be carried on by his loving family; his sisters Ila & Andy Hrenko of Warren, Grace & Robert Petiya of Warren; his brother Warren & Lena Funk of Linesville, PA; and his friends Edward & Kay Monroe of Mineral Ridge, OH.

Calling hours will be held at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 3:00 to 4:00pm. Masonic services will be held at 2:30 pm. Funeral services will immediately follow the calling hours at 4:00 pm. James will be laid to rest next to his wife Geraldine at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
