James A Wilson, 87 of Newton Falls, passed away at his daughter's residence on April 19, 2026. He was born on December 18, 1938 in Anniston, Alabama; the son of the late James D. and Odie L (Conner) Wilson.

A long time area resident; James lived in Alabama and Florida before coming to Newton Falls. He worked as a machinist for C.T.P, Cornwell Tools and Allen Aircraft, retiring in 2001. He married the love of his life, the former Shirley A. Bowser on August 22, 1959. Together they shared 63 years of marriage until her passing on April 18, 2023.

James was of Baptist faith, he enjoyed fishing in his spare time. When he was 17 years old he sang on a Christian Radio station as a soloist and part of a quartet. He also taught archery to the Miss America contestants in preparation for their pageants as a side job while he worked full time at the beaches in Fort Lauderdale. His greatest joy was his wife Shirley; his life revolved around her and tending to her every need and want and ensuring that she was always taken care of.

James and Shirley had five children together, all of whom survive; their daughter, Kimberly (Frank) Howell of Newton Falls; sons; James T. (Kris) Wilson of Wooster, Jeff (Michelle) Wilson of Atwater, Ken Wilson of Atwater and Rick (Shawnee) Wilson of Wooster; 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley and one brother Tommy Ray.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at James Funeral Home, Newton Falls. Calling hours will be from 5-7pm on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Burial will be at Atwater Cemetery.
