Obituary

Jane E. Harnichar age 96 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Friday Feb. 21, 2025 at her residence. She was born on November 23, 1928 in Cleveland, OH the daughter of the late Elton Orlando Earl & Ila Belle (Gray) Earl. Jane grew up in Windham and relocated to Newton Falls when she was in sixth grade.  She graduated from Newton Falls High School in the Class of 1947.  Jane married the love of her life, Michael J. Harnichar on Aug. 9, 1947, and together they enjoyed 64 years of marriage together until his death on Sept. 22, 2011. Jane worked as a nurse's aide and a dental assistant for Dr. Reynolds. She retired from the Newton Falls Public Library. Jane also volunteered her time as a Ladies Auxiliary Past President for the Newton Falls VFW Post #3332. She was also a church organist for over 30 years, playing at the Catholic Churches in Newton Falls, Lake Milton, Campbell, and the Solid Rock Ministry in Newton Falls. She played the organ for many weddings and played for funerals at the James Funeral Home for over 33 years. Jane was a faithful member of the Solid Rock Ministry in Newton Falls. She was a member of Aglow, a Christian Women's Organization.  Jane was a Hospice volunteer for many years, and enjoyed people, sewing, music, teaching CCD & Sunday School Classes at St. Mary & St. Joseph's Catholic Church.      She was a kind and loving person with a strong faith in God. She touched the lives of many people through her music, kindness and faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Jane was admired and loved by all her family and friends.  She will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.  Jane is preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Michael, 1 brother: David Earl, and 1 sister: Anne Cariglio.

She is survived by: her daughter Suzanne Harnichar of Westerville, OH; her sons: Michael & Terry Harnichar of Newton Falls, Patrick & Shannon Harnichar of Warren, her 4 grandchildren: Rachael & Hannah Harnichar, Kelsey & Ian Webb. She also leaves her adopted daughters: Frances Frantz and Joni Lance both of Newton Falls, a brother-in-law: George & Karlene Harnichar of Warren, and many nieces, nephews and step grandchildren who reside in various locations.  Jane's family is extremely grateful to her many independent care takers, and agency staff from Home Instead and Home Aid Helpers.

Funeral services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Wednesday Feb 26, 2025 at 11:00am with Rev. Jeff Swogger officiating. Calling hours will be on Tuesday Feb 25, 2025 from 4:00- 7:00pm at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest beside her husband Michael at Newton Falls Cemetery. The family has requested that all donations please be made to ether the Newton Falls Church Mouse Thrift Shoppe 26 1/2 West Broad St. Newton Falls, OH 44444 or St. Mary & St Joseph Catholic Church Food Pantry 120 Maple Drive Newton Falls, OH 44444 in her memory.
