Jeffrey David Nemet, 60, of Newton Falls passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital due to complications after suffering a stroke. He was born on February 16, 1953 in Warren, Ohio, the son of Michael and Ruth (Conti) Nemet. Jeff was a lifelong resident of Newton Falls, graduating from Newton Falls High School and attending Kent State University. He was retired from General Motors on October 1, 2006 after 35 years of employment. He also owned and operated Nemet Electric in Newton Falls. Jeff was a strong supporter of the community and was involved as a Newton Township trustee and a member of the fire board. Jeff was a volunteer Newton Falls Firefighter for many years and was a member of the UAW 1112. He loved family, football, golfing, gardening, and cooking. He especially enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes. Memories of Jeff will be carried on by his loving family; his daughter Anne (Chad) Powell Of Howland, and his sons David (Jennifer) Nemet of Greenfield, IN and Patrick of Newton Falls, his sister Michelle Bailey of Newton Falls; his brothers Michael (Margo) Nemet of Newton Falls; John (Debbie) Nemet of Newton Falls; 3 grandchildren Gillian and Sophia Powell of Howland and Rami Mills. Jeff is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Deborah Stull. Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 3, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at James Funeral Home in Newton Falls. The family prayer blessing will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at the James Funeral Home. A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's and Joseph Catholic Church in Newton Falls. Cremation will follow and Jeff will be laid to rest at St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date.
