Joan Jolane Johnson, (Sally) was born 1-20-20 in Braddock, PA, a daughter of John Kollesar and Mary Fedor K. Gubanyor and came to Newton Falls in 1928. She graduated from Newton Falls High School in the class of 1937. She worked as an Exec. Secretary for the National Youth Administration, Sears, Roebuck and Co., and at the Portage Ordnance Depot, Ravenna Arsenal. She was co-owner of Johnson's Poultry and Newton Grille with her husband Joe. She retired as a special agent from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1982. She was a member of the St. Michael's Church, The Rosary Society, A.A.R.P., Scope and Hobby Hunters. She enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening and crafts. Her husband who she married November 26, 1942, died May 18, 1986. She leaves 2 daughters, Joan (Jolane) Von Hagen, Vero Beach, FL, Janine (Nina) Pruett, Baton Rouge, LA and her son, Joseph Johnson, Pine, AZ. A Memorial Mass will be held on April 19, 2015 at 8:30 am at St. Michael's Church. A luncheon will be held at 1:00 pm at Roby Lee's Restaurant. Please RSVP before April 15, 2015 to Joan Von Hagen at [email protected] Private services were held. Joan was laid to rest next to her husband, Joseph at St. Michael's Cemetery.
