Joe Bobbey, age 90 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Windsor House in Champion. He was born on August 26, 1921 in Listie, PA the son of the late John and Mary (Zupko) Babbey. He received his formal education from Newton Falls High School graduating in 1940. Joe served his country faithfully in the US Coast Guard from 1942-1946. After returning from duty Joe met and married Eleanor F. Blanc on July 5, 1947 and she passed away after 47 years of marriage on August 7, 1994. He worked at North American Rockwell International in Newton Falls as an electrician for 30 years retiring in 1976. Joe was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton Falls for many years, and was one of the citizens who helped restore the Newton Falls Dam Project. Joe loved watching sports, and he went bowling 5 nights a week. He especially loved woodworking, he built models of single and double car covered bridges. One of his covered bridges was on display in the Newton Falls Public Library for years and now is on display at his house. Loving memories of Joe will be carried on by his daughter & son-in-law, Elaine & Joseph Tarkanick of Brookfield, son, David Bobbey of Marietta, GA, son & daughter-in-law, Joe & Elaine Bobbey Jr. of Cincinnati, grandchildren, Darlene & her husband Zachariah Dunham, Steve Tarkanick, Michael Bobbey, Steven Hunter Bobbey, Leah Bobbey and one great grandchild, Ronan Dunham. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eleanor, 2 sisters, Sophie Trella, Ann Staunton, and a daughter-in-law Sandra Bobbey. Calling hours will be held from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm at James Funeral Home on Wednesday October 5, 2011. Funeral services will be at 12:30 pm at the funeral home with Father Donald Feicht as celebrant. Joe will be buried next to his wife Eleanor at St. Michael's Cemetery in Newton Falls.
